As the principal of Blairwood Elementary, I believe it’s an honor and a privilege to lead a transformational community where teachers and staff cultivate an environment in which students achieve and believe in themselves and their ability to make a positive change in society and the world. I seek to cultivate a community where family members are welcomed to be actively engaged in their child’s education, as well as an integral component of our school family. Above all, I seek to employ values that lead to the success of your child at our school and in the community. Together we can continue Blairwood’s legacy of success. 

As we charter through these challenging times of COVID-19 pandemic, and racial unrest in our country, we will remain connected to our students, families, and community. I welcome your input, feedback, and support, which will be critical for the teaching and learning environment. We will continue to work towards our goal of ensuring that our students are given every opportunity to reach their goals.

Bio

I am a native Daytonian and a proud graduate of Trotwood-Madison School District. I began my journey of higher education at Park University where I received my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (BS).  After a career in Law Enforcement, I began my journey in education at Antioch-McGregor University earning a Master’s in Education (M. Ed), Middle Child-ELA and Social Studies. I earned my Educational Doctoral Degree (ED.D) in Educational Technology at The University of Phoenix.

I began my formal instructional career teaching 6th grade at Mulligan Stew Academy in Dayton, OH where I taught for 3- years, and then joined Dayton Christian Schools teaching 4th grade for 8-years. I transitioned to administration in 2012 to serve as the elementary school principal where I served for 5- years. I joined Jefferson Twp. Local School District in 2017 as 7th-8th grade ELA teacher, also teaching 9th grade ELA for a short time. I continue to focus on innovative methods to support staff and engage students in becoming life-long learners as principal at Blairwood Elementary School.  

When I am not wearing my Principal hat, I am blessed to be a wife to my wonderful husband, Damon, and mother to my loving sons, Paul and Tyree, and beautiful daughter Darian. I am also the gushing “Yaya” to a precious grandson, Kingston.
